Galil Mountain Yiron 2009 - An Award Winning Wine
Yiron 2009 was awarded a special prize for excellence at the Les Citadelles Du Vin, a gathering of 40 top level tasters from around the world to select the best wines out of 800 samples coming from about 30 countries.
The 2009 Galil Mountain Yiron is from the higher northern elevations of the Upper Galilee. This wine is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot.
Deep red in color, the wine displays strong aromas of berry, blueberry and cassis on a background of vanilla and toasted oak characters, along with a slight hint of butter. A strong, well-balanced and full-bodied wine with a silky texture and a long, velvety finish.
The growing season that preceded the 2009 harvest began with a relatively cold and dry winter, enabling the grapevines to receive the required dosages of cold temperature for hibernation. The uniformity continued as the grapes ripened, contributing to the good quality that characterized the harvest.
This wine is an excellent complement to richly flavored dishes such as juicy oven-roasted beef, steak, veal, venison and seasoned sauces. Best served at 18°C (64°F).
Storage and Aging
Store in a cold, dark area. If stored in proper conditions, the wine will age well for 5-7 years from harvest.
